I made several samples, and then counted how many rows there were against the length of the thumb, and against mine, and it worked out pretty close... to scale, anyway. I'm quite a bit smaller than Tilda Swinton. I do remember having to compromise on the size of the ring as they didn't have what I needed, and I could have gone a little bigger, but I think that size ring would have been too big on me. I haven't found the 19g to be flimsy at all actually. And yes, of course I did turn the rings the other direction :) I DID look at the pictures before I began, you know ;) I had to make up quite a bit on how to do those gores while going in the other direction.

As of right now I have the big panel done, 1 gore, and 3 of the 4 skinnier rectangles, it weighs in at 4lbs, 3oz

Verdaerahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02623257976488143439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-639743988911632694.post-82769177659232176172012-12-16T04:25:41.303-08:002012-12-16T04:25:41.303-08:00Question: Why did you go with 19g 3/16? Also, after close-up examination of photos of the actual movie prop, I'm going with 16g 5/16". Did you remember to turn the ring direction 90 degrees at the hipline? The bodice rows run vertical, but the skirt rows run horizontal. What's the total weight of the maille at this point? nwyvre.weaveywrks@gmail.com if you'd like to reply directly.
